While this ongoing treatment can be very valuable and meaningful, this program is an alternative that is time sensitive and focused on specific skills and objectives during a 2-3 month period. ACT, short for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, is an innovative approach to mental health that has a growing body of research supporting it's effectiveness in treating a number of mental health diagnosis including anxiety and depression. ACT works to influence how we relate to experiences of emotional distress in ways that reduce struggle or avoidance and increase our acceptance/willingness to have the uncomfortable experiences.
