Treatment for Anxiety
Stress, worry, and generalized fear can have a way of running the life of anyone dealing with anxiety on a regular basis. Would you like to work on your capacity to experience worry, fear, stress and anxiety as normal parts of life? Would you like to learning skills to take back control and call the shots regarding who you want to be and how you want to behave?
Anxiety can be terrifying and paralyzing when we don't know what to do. The confusion of not knowing can add to the dynamic of gripping fear and lead to further paralysis. If you're stuck in a similar cycle and anxiety is calling the shots for you more often than you'd like, I'd like to work with you to develop strategies to engage with life more often in the ways you choose.
Because anxiety can be so distressing, it can be tempting to seek out ways to eliminate feelings, but new research is demonstrating that an ability to contact and experience anxiety is possible and can be learned in a way that builds resiliency and the capacity to have feelings of anxiousness with less resistance. Building the capacity to feel anxious seems counterintuitive if you just want the feelings to go away, but this strategy of moving forward in life while feeling anxiety can limit the control those feelings have on behavior and lead to a more fulfilling way of living.
