Therapy is an investment in You
Q:How much would you pay to reclaim your life? If you've sought me out specifically to improve your mental and emotional health and have some assistance with your efforts to reclaim your life, you are probably looking to make an investment in yourself and your own personal well-being.
Often therapy can be viewed as an expense or a luxury item like cable or eating out at a nice restaurant. In other words it can be viewed as something people do when they can afford to treat themselves. In this scenario it can be common to prioritize:
While all of these are great questions to ask and financial means must be considered, I believe that making a choice based solely on these factors has the potential to be problematic. Q:What's the cost of your insurance company making your healthcare choices? Let me ask you this:
I advocate for prioritizing your needs and who can best meet them, and learning to ask those questions along with those regarding finances. |

I am a fee for service provider. This means I do not accept insurance for my services and my services may not be redeemable by insurance companies. I am considered an out of network provider by all insurance plans. Depending on your plan you may be able to seek reimbursement independently after payment has been made (continue reading for more on possible reimbursement).
Q:
Would you like the freedom to get exactly what you need?
While I understand the desire to seek out services from those who may accept your insurance (as challenging as that is becoming for some) there are many benefits to seeing a fee for service provider, such as:
This list is by no means exhaustive; it simply highlights the benefits of taking back the control of your treatment from your insurance company. You get to be in the driver’s seat as you seek to improve and enhance your life. Also, by eliminating the phone calls, forms, follow-ups, deadlines, and tediousness of working with insurance companies, I am able to devote more time to what I truly care about… working with you to accomplish your goals and reclaim your life!
For the price of a cup of coffee each day you could receive bi-weekly therapy from me. Looking at it from that perspective may make the investment start to seem more realistic.
My rates are:
- My attention is solely on you and your concerns: My time, energy, and attention can be completely directed toward you because I do not have to balance our time between sessions with my interactions with insurance companies
- You call the shots: Insurance companies do not get to dictate services. We can collaboratively decide the amount of time that we spend working on your concerns and there are no limitations on the types of services I can offer you based on your needs. Your unique situation deserves an equally unique approach.
- No diagnosis required: Insurance companies require a diagnosis for a person to receive mental health services. Diagnoses can serve as labels that are attached to whatever concern you may be bringing in. Those labels can have long-term effects and will remain with you over time as they navigate through other healthcare systems. Without the involvement of insurance there is no need to attach a permanent label to what you are uniquely experiencing.

My rates are:
Individual: $120/60 minute intake session $120/50 minute regular session Group Sessions: vary from $30-$45 for 1-1.5 hours depending on the group 8 Week Getting Unstuck with ACT Program: $120/50 minute session ($960 for 8 sessions) In addition, you may also request billing documentation that you can turn into insurance providers independently to seek reimbursement for services. There is no guarantee if insurance will reimburse or how much will be reimbursed should it be approved but a super bill document can be provided monthly for you to submit to your insurance. Please note that for a super bill to be generated for insurance purposes a diagnosis is needed. This is mentioned as some individuals who choose fee for service providers do so to avoid having a diagnosis submitted on their medical health record.
If you do plan to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider I recommend checking ahead of time to see what you might be able to expect for an out of network provider. You can check your specific plan details to see what percentage you might be reimbursed and what deductible you may have to meet prior to reimbursement. |
